From the publisher:

Iris Scanlon, Half-Moon Hollow's only daytime vampire concierge, knows more about the undead than she'd like. Running all their daylight errands--from letting in the plumber to picking up some chilled O neg--gives her a look at the not-so-glamorous side of vampire life. Her rules are strict; relationships with vamps are strictly business, not friendship--and certainly not anything else. But then she finds her newest client, Cal, poisoned on his kitchen floor, and only Iris can help.

Cal - who would be devastatingly sexy, if Iris allowed herself to think that way - offers Iris a hefty fee for hiding him at her place until he figures out who wants him permanently dead. Even though he's imperious, unfriendly and doesn't seem to understand the difference between "employee" and "servant," Iris agrees, and finds herself breaking more and more of her own rules to help him - particularly those concerning nudity. Turns out what her quiet little life needed was some intrigue & romance--in the form of her very own stray vampire.

"I have enough of my own sarcasm, Cal. I don't need yours."

Iris Scanlon is sarcastic and laugh out loud funny. She's also a caring, responsible substitute mother for her sister Gigi, with whom she has a hilarious relationship. She's smart, resourceful, and brave when push comes to shove. You'll love her first-person narration.

"I'd agreed to cohabitate with [Cal] who was cranky condescending, and prone to bouts of staggering insensitivity. If I'd wanted that, I'd get a cat."

But Cal is oh, so sexy. Cletus "Cal" Calix starts out as an arrogant vampire, believing that humans are simply a means to an end in backwater Half Moon Hollow. He can't wait to solve the mystery of the poisonings and leave. But then he gets to know Iris and Gigi better ...

Iris and Cal have a turbulent relationship. From snarky arguments to tender times to out-of-control sex to heart-rending moments, you happily hang on for the roller coaster ride. Molly Harper has the ability to make you laugh and cry right along with the characters.

The storyline follows Cal's poisoning and recovery, and the building relationship between Iris and Cal. Without meaning to, Cal ends up becoming close to Gigi in a fatherly or big-brother way. Scenes involving Gigi's prospective date and a Taser are hilarious.

Iris and Cal eventually work together on the mystery of the poisonings, and Iris is put into lethal danger. But the worst danger is to her heart, because Cal is planning on leaving as soon as the mystery is solved.

Since the Half Moon Hollow series is a spin-off of the Jane Jameson series, favorite characters from that series appear in The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires, to delight fans.

To sum it all up, you'll love the funny, oddball characters of Iris, Cal and Gigi, and their interwoven, quirky relationships. The mystery of the poisonings and continuing danger will keep you reading. You'll be rooting for Iris and Cal, but their future is in doubt. Will they reach their HEA?
