Author Nina Croft Talks About HIS FANTASY GIRL

His Fantasy Girl

Nina Croft

A sexy category romance from Entangled's Brazen imprint...
When fantasy and reality collide...
There's nothing like a near death experience to make a guy reassess his life. And that's exactly what nightclub owner Logan McCabe decides to do, starting with looking up the girl he spent one wild night with eleven years ago, right before his life turned to crap. He spent a year fantasizing about her. Now he's ready to see how reality matches up.
Abigail Parker is a perfectionist. She's only strayed from the straight and narrow once in her life, on her eighteenth birthday. It was supposed to be one wild night with a totally unsuitable man before she settled into her sensible future. Instead it changed her life forever.
Logan might still be the sexiest man Abigail has ever seen, but a dirty-talking, tattooed, ex-con is the last thing she needs in her perfect life. He claims she's his fantasy girl, but what he doesn't know is she's also the mother of his ten-year old daughter...

Highly recommended

I thoroughly enjoyed His Fantasy Girl. It's a scorcher with a dash of humor and a heart-warming journey.

Nina Croft

Nina Croft writes paranormal, sci-fi, and contemporary novels mixed with romance.

Nina grew up in the north of England. After training as an accountant, she spent four years working as a volunteer in Zambia which left her with a love of the sun and a dislike of 9-5 work. She then spent a number of years mixing travel (whenever possible) with work (whenever necessary) but has now settled down to a life of writing and picking almonds on a remote farm in the mountains of southern Spain.

Nina spoke with me about His Fantasy Girl, her current work, and her plans for the future.

Babysitting a Billionaire
Lisa: Logan McCabe, the hero of His Fantasy Girl, is related to characters in the Babysitting a Billionaire series. Did you decide to spin off His Fantasy Girl while writing the Babysitting a Billionaire series? Was Logan always a part of the plan?

Nina: Logan was one of those secondary characters who pop up in books and you know you have to write their story. So while it wasn’t exactly always part of a plan—as I had no clue at the time what his story would be—I just knew he’d get one. So when I was planning my next Brazen series, he was at the top of the list.

Lisa: In His Fantasy Girl, three friends nearly die. The experience motivates them to each choose things to do before they die. What is on your bucket list of places you’d like to visit, people you’d like to meet, or things you’d like to do?

Nina: I have a large and ever changing bucket list, but here are a few of the things I’d like to do:

  • Horse ride up the Inca trails in Peru.
  • Take a canoe trip down the Amazon.
  • Learn to dive in the Great Barrier Reef.
  • Run a rescue center for dogs and anything else that comes along.
  • Learn natural horsemanship.

Lisa: Did someone (model, actor) inspire Logan McCabe's character? Abigail's?

Nina: No. But now I think about it, I’d definitely like Aiden Turner for Logan. Not sure about Abby, but I’m open to suggestions.

Lisa: Jenny, Abby and Logan’s 10-year-old daughter, is precocious and funny, yet vulnerable. Is her character based on someone?

Nina: I never base my characters on real people. And I have to admit, I was sort of nervous about writing Jenny, as I know very little about children (I’m more a puppies and kittens sort of person.) I was worried I’d find her hard to write, but in fact she came very easily, and was her own person from the start.

Lisa: Without spoiling the scene, I’ll tell you that my favorite scene was the last one before the Epilogue, the one that took place in the police station lobby. It was heart-warming and perfect. What was your favorite scene to write?

Nina: So glad you loved that scene. It was quite hard to write and kept coming back from my editor who wanted more and more emotion!

I think my favorite scene to write was the party where Abby and Jenny met the rest of the McCabe clan. I love re-meeting characters from earlier books and always jump at the chance. So it was great seeing Declan and Jess again. And I love Logan’s dad, Rory. He’s a fun character to write.

Lisa: Do you have any stories to share about the writing of His Fantasy Girl?

Nina: Just really about how the book and the series, Things to do Before You Die, came about.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer just under a couple of years ago. I caught it early and (fingers crossed) I’m fine now, but the experience did have the effect of making me sit up and think about life and what I want to do (see the list above). I think that’s a pretty natural reaction but also quite an individual one and changes from person to person. So I decided I wanted to write a series about people who come face to face with death, the different ways they move forward afterward, and how they are changed by the experience.

Lisa: Whose book is next in the Things to Do Before You Die… series? When will it be released?

Nina: Josh’s book comes next and I have to admit that it’s one of my favorites. In the lifeboat, Josh makes a very solemn vow that he’s going to get laid. Unfortunately, there are a few complications he needs to sort out first. Her Fantasy Husband will be released April 2016.

Lisa: What are you working on now? When will it be released?

Nina: I’ve just finished the first draft of book three in the Things to do Before you Die series, which is Vito’s story – His Fantasy Bride. Vito made a vow to find out why his perfect bride ran out on him the night before the wedding.  His Fantasy Bride is due out in July 2016.

Lisa: The Order and The Melville Sisters are two paranormal series of yours that I enjoyed. For our PNR readers, what is your next paranormal project.

Nina: My next project is Flying Through Fire, which is book 6 in my Dark Desires series. The series is science fiction romance with a paranormal twist (or paranormal romance with a sci-fi twist!) These are stories set in the future and follow the adventures, romantic and otherwise, of the crew of the space-ship the Blood Hunter. The crew includes a couple of vampires, a werewolf, some genetically modified humans and a couple of part-aliens. So a nice mix up of characters. After that, I’ll probably write The Melville Sisters book 3.

As mentioned above, the first books of The Order, The Melville Sisters, and Dark Desires:
